The "Unveiled and Leading" technology project in the field of tobacco agricultural machinery research and application of China National Tobacco Corporation has entered the comprehensive implementation stage. In order to promote the smooth launch and implementation of the project, in accordance with the requirements of the "China Tobacco Office (2023) No. 138" document and project work arrangements, the project leader Jiangsu Yunma Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Yunma Agricultural Machinery") held a project kickoff meeting on "Research and Application of Fully Automatic Layered Harvester in Hilly and Mountainous Areas" from January 11th to 12th, 2024 in Dafeng District, Yancheng City

This project is mainly jointly undertaken by Jiangsu Yunma Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the Tobacco Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Nanjing Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and South China Agricultural University.

On the morning of the 11th, participating units first visited the production workshop of Jiangsu Yunma Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd., where they physically observed the production and demonstration of relevant equipment. They jointly discussed the convenience that fully automatic layered harvesters in hilly and mountainous areas bring to users in practical use. The relevant leaders also expressed their opinions on this and affirmed the efforts made by Yunma Agricultural Machinery in it.                             

       Subsequently, Yunma Agricultural Machinery had preliminary communication and exchange with various parties in the conference room regarding the research ideas of theoretical analysis, prototype testing, and technical system integration around the three major elements of tobacco field environment, tobacco plant characteristics, and efficient equipment.

    On the afternoon of the 11th, the conference was officially launched on the third floor of the East China International Conference Center. The task of tobacco harvesting in hilly and mountainous areas is heavy, time is tight, and intensity is high, which has seriously affected the sustainable development of tobacco production. Mechanization, automation, and intelligence have become urgent needs to achieve sustained, stable, and healthy development of tobacco production. The development of fully automatic layered harvesters in hilly and mountainous areas is urgent. During the conference, we exchanged views on the key technology of fully automatic layered tobacco harvesting, the development of a fully automatic layered tobacco harvesting machine in hilly and mountainous areas, and the implementation of engineering applications.
